Your Massage Session
When you arrive for your first massage session you will be asked to fill out a health questionnaire. Your massage therapist will then show you to a quite, relaxing massage room, discuss any health conditions you may have, what results you want from your massage and what areas your prefer to have worked on. A full body massage will include work on your back, legs, feet, arms, hands, neck, shoulders and head if requested.
You will then be given instructions for getting on the table. If you have any questions about your session please ask your therapist. Your therapist will leave the room and while you undress to your comfort level and get between the clean, fresh sheets on the massage table.
There are some massage techniques that can be done with the client dressed. However most massage techniques are usually performed directly on the skin using massage oil or lotion. You decide to what level you undress. Your comfort is of utmost importance. You will be properly draped during your session. Only the areas being worked on at that time will be undraped.
Communication between you and your therapist is of utmost importance. If you are ever uncomfortable for any reason please speak out, if you are too hot or too cold, if you want more pressure or less used during the massage, etc.
As you are lying on the comfortable massage table, relaxing music will be playing. As your therapist begins to work your aching muscles you will feel your stress and tension melting away. If you are one of those people that prefer to talk during your session then that is okay. It is your session. However, to get the most out of your massage, close your eyes, do some slow, deep breathing and let yourself drift away. You’ll be glad you did!
